First off, Happy New Year!
The bitter coldness sweeping the Northeast has gotten me some scarf orders. The scarf I'm currently working on is so yummy. So far, it's about 50 inches long and I drape it across my legs to keep me warm. I love it! I want it for myself! I have four more scarves to make after I'm done with this one.
Man, I really do love crocheting. The moving of the hook through the loops gives me the focus I need to meditate. Now, if I could only have peace and quiet while doing it then it would be perfect, but we all know that won't happen. I can't even finish writing this post because I have the little one yelling at me to pay attention to him. Since it's only 8:15 am, I must abide. I don't want the neighborhood woken open by his high pitch yells. Sigh.....
To be continued....

I Know, I know....
My hiatus has been atrocious and shameful. I have a pretty shrug waiting to be finished. I haven't visited Ravelry in a long time. I had all this extra time when I stopped breast feeding and magically it has disappeared. Up to date, I've had one girls' night out this entire year. Yes, one and it happened about two weeks ago. I'm going out again next Friday and I'm looking forward to it like a teenager.
How do I get my time back? I'm not sure. I've added on to the chaos. Starting next month, I'll be pursuing certification to teach ESL. In actuality, I'm pursuing a Master's in Urban Education with ESL certification, but I haven't taken my GRE. So, I was told to go apply for certification, take the GRE, and then I'll get accepted into the Master's program. What's funny is that the only difference in courses between the certification program and the Master's program is six credits (the thesis). So, there won't be any interruption in my courses.
Of course you know what that means. I'll rarely have time to update this blog. Keep me in mind as I'll occasionally pop in and give you updates about my crochet/knit world. Have a very Happy Holiday and Happy New Year!!

Yarn Sale
Thanks to my great coworker, Ida, I found out about a yarn sale going on near where I live. Apparently, whoever organizes the sale travels around the tristate area with super discounted yarns. A lot of the yarn available is discontinued, but it's super cheap.
I came out with two bags of Red Heart Symphony in Redwood. Each bag has three skeins of yarn. I loved this color so much that I bought two bags. I probably should have picked a different color, but I couldn't help it. The next thing I picked out was Patons Carmen. This bag contains six skeins of Wine Bourgogne. Each skein is approximately 64 yards.
Keeping up with Patons, I picked out Twister in Chocolate Twist. This bag contains ten skeins of 47 yards each. I then came across Moda Dea Dram in Black. This bag has five skeins at 93 yards each. Last but not least, I walked out of there with Lion Brand Woolspun in Dusty Mauve. There are three skeins of 100 yards each.
I walked out of that place with 30 skeins of yarn for just $39. Yes, $39! I really could have done a lot more damage than I did, but the place only accepted cash and that's all the money I had on me. I was hearing women saying their spending limit was $100. Imagine if that was my spending limit?
I went to this sale with a purpose of buying yarn that I normally wouldn't buy because it tends to be expensive. What I have to do now is find patterns for all this yarn and make stuff. I have to do this sale justice!

Jacky's Shawl
My niece, Jacky, wants a shawl just like the one I made my mother because she claims to be cold in the mornings (it hasn't been cold; she just really wants one). I promised her that I would make her one. The color she wants this in is turquoise, which I didn't realize is difficult to get because it's more of a spring/summer color. Low and behold, there were two lonely skeins left at AC Moore and I snatched them up quickly before anyone could fight me for it.
I think I'll be able to finish it by the end of this week. She'll be soooo happy! When I told her that I was working on it, she almost jumped out of her skin. She's such a sweetheart! I love her!!

All Done!
This scarf is making me a bit selfish. Yeah, I'm keeping this one. I absolutely love it! Let's say it's a birthday gift for me!!!
BTW, I went to AC Moore and got myself a tiny bit of stuff (filler, turquoise yarn for my niece's shawl, and some yarn on sale for a buck each). The filler is for Amigurumi. Yes, I want to make some toys for Will. Everywhere I look, people are making them. I want to jump on that bandwagon. Let's see what I come up with. Well, time to go to sleep.

Cloudy Skies Scarf
The Doggy Bandanna is finished and I began another project! I'm on a roll! The baby went down around 9pm. Dan was working and I was done cleaning (well except the bedrooms, but I can't do that while Will is sleeping). I sat down, turned on the TV and began crocheting this scarf. As you can see from the picture, I'm using two strands of yarn. The stitch is a simple treble crochet, which crochets up pretty fast. Unfortunately, around midnight I fell asleep. I couldn't keep on going. If I had the energy, I would have finished this last night. Oh well, it'll be done today (I hope).
